Is there a law on who pays for unauthorized use of a 1-900 numbers?
Q. If minors dial 1-900 calls form your phone, unauthorized, are you liable to pay the bill. Is there a law concerning this?
Asked by dramaqueen - Sun Sep 2 21:31:35 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. yes. the law states that you are not responsible for non basic charges to your phone. if there is a 900 number billed to your phone you can call the telephone company and tell them you will not pay it. you can ask for them to put a block on 900 #'s on your phone, but more than likely they will do this for you. a telephone company can try, but is not legally entitled to collect money from anyone disputing their for bill, other than for basic long distance charges.

A. because who ever got you the phone was smart because they kept it to a "local" area calling. 900 numbers charge a funny rate because of where they are located. most are in a place that have funny laws on what a phone company can charge and they then charge it to your phone bill. 900 numbers are a large scam and should be avoided at all costs.

Q. spanish so how can i contest this bill...It is my suspicion that the computer dialed the number, but how can i find out for sure..Scott

A. Hi Scott, I doubt that your computer dialed a 900 number. More than likely someone in your household dialed the number. 900 numbers are used for entertainment (horoscoposed, etc...including sex talk) as well as for consumer product information (i.e. nutritional information about foods) and prize giveaways. Call ICE (dial 119, I think) and have them block all such numbers. Don't bother trying to get out of paying the call, it will take too much effort and frustration. Hopefully the charges are not outrageous. Good luck, Carlos

Q. How many different 3 digit numbers can be made if the first number cannot be a 0 and the numbers can repeat? A. 900 B. 1000 C. 810 D. 729 And Can you Answer this??? 1.) What is the probability of drawing 2 kings from a standard deck of 52 cards with replacement? 2.) Find the probability of the same situation this time without replacement.

A. How many numbers are there starting from 100 to 999? exactly 900 numbers. 1. there are four kings in a standard deck. draw a card. Probability that it is a king is 4/52 = 1/13. Replace it in to the deck, and draw again. another 1/13 as the probability of king. so the probability of drawing 2 kings is 1/13 *1/13 = 1/169. 2. 4/52 * 3/51. This time you are not replacing, so for second draw, there are 51 cards in total, and 3 kings (you have already taken into account the probability of getting a king on first draw). simplify to get 1/ 221.
