How would you plan a research project using experimental and control groups?
Q. I have this Sociology homework and my professor gave us this question to answer. Can someone please explain to me what I need to do here? and perhaps give me an answer. Thank You =)

A. I think he's asking for you to plan (any) kind of research (whatever topic you guys are covering) in which you have 2 groups (ex. 2 groups of people). One group (the experimental), you do something to or change something . The other, the control, is left "untouched". Then you can compare the results/outcome and see how your change affected the group and compare this to the control group. Make sure you only "change" one thing, and then if your experimental group ends up "different" from the control group, you pretty much know it is because of the change you introduced.

Could a person with an English degree assist a group that does biological research?
Q. I have very lofty goals and am striving to write for National Geographics. I need to establish experience and I figure I can go about this in two ways, the biology side or the writing side. I have applied to publications as well as biological research and conservation groups. I have an offer from a wolf conservation group and one from a magazine. I hope to find a group that works in the field of marine biology. What position should I be asking for?

A. A Scientific Writer or Science Journalist position. A science journalist (or science writer) is a journalist who specializes in writing about science topics, and thus practices science journalism. Due to this combination, a science journalist needs to be proficient in two areas: as a journalist who can write well enough for magazines and newspapers, and as a scientist, or at least as a dedicated learner capable of following complex science and explaining it in simple terms.
