From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. When used as a descriptor or adjective, affect means a change, and usually refers to an emotion or symptom. Affected, when used in a description, refers to fake or intentionally assumed behaviour (a changed behaviour), i.e., an affected accent. In general, to affect refers to the influence a change has on something else. In this sense, it is often confused with to effect, which generally means either "to cause/make/create a change" or to the result of a change. When used as a verb, "effect" refers to the cause of a change, or as a synonym for "created" or "made" ("The governor effected a change in policy"); while "affect" refers to the consequences of that change ("The new policy really affected our family"). As a noun, "affect" may refer to an emotion or to a psychological/psychiatric state (see below). As an adjective, it may refer to an assumed pretense: "Her affected accent really had an effect on me"; "Her affected accent really affected my view of her". Affect may refer to:

GNU Free Documentation License How does being an optimist or a pessimist affect your outlook on life? Q. Do you have a pessimistic or an optimistic outlook on life? How does this affect you as a person? Does it affect your relationships? The reason I'm putting this question under this category is because to varying degrees our spirituality affects how we view ourselves, others and our world. It also affects whether we view things from an optimistic perspective or a pessimistic perspective. Asked by beagle - Wed Oct 15 10:46:32 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I am an optimist. When life throws curve balls, pessimists often see these as roadblocks, and focus on the negative and how much effort it would take to overcome the difficulty. They tend to dwell on what's hard and what might go wrong, sometimes paralyzed by perceived fear. Instead, I see these as opportunities to grow, to learn, to be challenged and to shine through it. I look for options/solutions. I also have a faith in a God who is sovereign and a promise He has made that all things work together for good to them that love Him and are called according to His purpose. So what a joy to see what He will reveal through the "hard" times. I read somewhere that pessimists are often drawn to optimists because they are uplifted by the… [cont.] Answered by myrrh - Sun Oct 19 02:55:57 2008 How does Chinese immigrants affect our American culture? Q. Ever since mid 1900s, possibly 1800s i havent quite gotten the facts straight, but ever since those times, there has been an increasing amount of Chinese immigrants into America. How are they affecting our culture as we speak? And does their immigration to America affect China? For example, i found that because these Chinese immgrants came to America, when they go back, they brough back the Western culture - but is there anything more? Answered by James Ford - Wed Mar 3 22:16:21 2010 What factors affect the efficiency of a wind mill/wind turbine? What is the physics related to it?
Q. What physics is related to it (secondary school - to early university level physics)? Also, how would a basic wind turbine be constructed and how would you go about testing the factors that affect the efficiency? Asked by unknown - Sat Aug 22 02:09:04 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments A. Efficiency (the ratio of actual power out to theoretical power out) is not the primary design goal for a windmill or turbine. The real goal is minimizing total cost per unit energy. Efficiency is a factor, but initial cost, ease of maintenance, suitability to the context, etc. are all more important. (Just as with gasoline and diesel engines). Thus, it is clear that theoretical efficiency goes up with the number of blades, but going from 1 blade to 2 increases efficiency by only 6%. Going from 2 to 3 blades increases efficiency by 3%. Going from 2 blades to 3 blades might pay, but while 4 blades would be a little bit more efficient, the gain just isn't worth the costs. Similarly, a 3_D helical turbine can be more efficient that a… [cont.] Answered by simplicitus - Mon Aug 24 02:04:51 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "affect" How Will Paris Hilton's Recent Arrest Affect Her Career? - X17 Online (blog)
